SEVENTEENTH CENTURY BRITISH LITERATURE (3) Significant works of the seventeenth century, exclusive of those "neoclassical" authors identified with the Restoration of monarchy in 1660 and on into the eighteenth century; emphasis is, therefore, on poets such as Jonson, Donne, Herrick, Herbert, Chrashaw, Marvell, Lovelace, Carew, Suckling, Vaughan, Waller, Traherne and Milton, as well as on such political, religious, and scientific prose writers as Hobbes, Burton, Winstanley, Browne and Bacon; also on Jonson's Volpne and Webster's The Duchess of Malfi.
