Credit Hours: 5.00. Students are involved in the evaluation, treatment, and care of patients presented to the small animal soft tissue and orthopedic/neurosurgery services. Cadaver work supplements the clinical experience. Students will be expected to have accomplished the objectives of the Small Animal Surgery Basic block and to develop greater knowledge, clinical judgment, diagnostic capabilities, and surgical skills that would enable them to manage more complex cases, such as simple fractures (utilizing external fixation, intramedullary pinning, and wiring), intestinal resections, stifle surgery, and herniorrhaphies. Total clinic hours 212.
