Credit Hours: 3.00. The neurology half-block will provide a broad range of experience in small animal clinical neurology, with consultations in large animal clinical neurology. Students will be directly involved in managing neurology cases both medical and surgical neurological diseases, under the supervision of a clinical neurologist. Students will be expected to further develop their history-taking skills, perform detailed neurological examinations, work through neuroanatomic localization of their cases, define differential diagnoses lists, as well as suggest diagnostic and treatment plans for their neurological cases. Specific round topics to be discussed over the course of the rotation would include (but not limited to): seizure management, vestibular disease, intervertebral disc disease, Wobbler?s disease, head and spinal trauma, and bladder dysfunction. Students will be involved in after-hours neurological emergency cases on rotating on-call schedule (e.g. IVDD, seizures, acute head trauma, etc). Total clinic hours 129.
