One- and two-dimensional and axisymmetric field problems, including heat transfer by conduction and convection, fluid flow, coupled heat and mass transfer, and thermo-mechanical problems. Treatment of derivative boundary conditions, point sources, and sinks. Introduction to structural and solid mechanics. Time-dependent problems, numerical stability, and higher order elements. Nonlinear problems, including stress analysis of viscoelastic biomaterials and phase changes during thermal processing.
