This course completes examination and application of basic patient skills, such as universal precautions, bed mobility, wheelchair mobility, transfer training, and gait training. The course also provides an in-depth exploration of the components of the acquisition of teaching/learning as it applies to patient interaction in physical therapy. A variety of educational/instructional methods are introduced, allowing for exploration of optimal teaching approaches in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. Modifications to learning/teaching strategies are discussed within the context of age, race, gender, culture, and socioeconomic status.
