Prerequisite: None This elective will allow the senior student to participate in a busy cardiology practice in the outpatient setting. The student will be involved in the evaluation of new patients and consultations, in terms of physical examinations and discussion of acceptable methods of diagnosis and treatment. Cardiovascular risk assessment, diagnosis and treatment are emphasized. Hyperlipidemia management and women and heart disease are also a special focus. The student will be involved daily with treadmill exercise testing including nuclear stress testing and stress echocardiography. Echocardiograms, EKGs, Holter monitoring, and Event recordings are reviewed daily.
