This course provides students with practical experience of various techniques used in the molecular biology laboratory with emphasis on nucleic acid isolation procedures, quantification, PCR and gel electrophoresis. The focus is on quality control measures unique for the molecular laboratory and prescribed by the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute. The goal is to develop manual and analytical skills which will prepare the students for molecualr analysis on clinical samples.
