ECE 425 - Practicum in ECE Special Edu

Institution:
Eastern Connecticut State University
Subject:
Description:
Practicum in Early Childhood Special Education Prerequisite: Admission to the ECE certification program and taking ECE 405 and other Core III courses. This practicum offers students the opportunity to work closely with a child who has special needs, within a developmentally appropriate early childhood program. Students will be asked to observe and record learning and behavior of this child and peers. They will be expected to adjust activities, as necessary, for learning differences and to facilitate social interaction between this child and "typically developing" peers. A focus is on scaffolding the child's learning and development-that is, giving just the right amount of assistance, without over-directing or missing opportunities for appropriate intervention. 3.000 Credit Hours 3.000 Other hours Levels: Undergraduate Schedule Types: Lecture, Student Teaching School of Educ & Prof Studies College Education Department
