This course is a broad introduction to mapping sciences and arts, with an emphasis on the theory and practice of cartography. The objective is to help students develop the faculty to think critically about cartographic processes and representations as well as develop their skills in creating maps. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will be introduced as a multi-disciplinary tool that builds on the fundamentals of cartography. Course included two combined lecture and laboratory sessions per week.
