The purpose of this course is to expose students to the diversity and complexity of the theories related to addiction and to the most current research regarding what is working in the addiction treatment field. Focus will be on the relationship of addiction theory to both intervention and prevention. Of equal importance, this course is designed to provide a stimulus for students to challenge their personal attitudes and beliefs regarding addictions.
