This course will examine the range of topics associated with counseling in the public and private schools. Topics include laws and cases related to the governance and role of federal and state governments with regard to confidentiality, topics and activities pertaining to the implementation of comprehensive guidance and counseling programs, parent and student rights, discrimination and rights of the disabled, student discipline issues, and other topics influencing the profession of school counseling.
