The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the basic ideas or concepts that are used in discussing, or analyzing, international politics. Following a rapid review of the history of international relations, especially since 1900, the course takes students through the three major contending schools of analysis (Realism, Liberalism, Marxism) before discussing the structure of international relations that involves the United Nations, international political economy, diplomacy and nongovernmental actors.
