This course will examine the role of women of African descent in various efforts to eradicate discrimination based on race in the western hemisphere. In particular the course will focus on the socio-cultural effects of religion, slavery and discriminatory laws and customs, and the impact they have upon the role of women of African descent in the western hemisphere.
