This course examines the history of modern Nigeria from 1800 to the present. The subjects will include the 19th- century political and religious revolutions, the rise of commodity commerce, Christian missionary activity, British imperialism and Nigerian resistance, colonial rule and its political, economic, and cultural aspects, Nigerian freedom struggles, the attainment of independence, political, economic and social developments since independence.
