3 semester hours. This course provides knowledge of the functions of food and its relationship with health and human performance allowing students to make informed choices regarding personal nutritional habits. Topics of study include the following: essential dietary nutrients; dietary energy sources at rest and during exercise; weight control, body composition, and exercise; eating disorders; nutrition for physically active; pre/post-exercise meals and dietary supplements; and dietary analysis and making better dietary selections. Prerequisites: PHED 251, 252. Learning Outcome: Critical Thinking. Offered every year.
