This lecture and laboratory course analytically presents a large scale, evolutionary framework for biological systems. A rigorous, but practical, observational approach to basic evolutionary processes, biodiversity and the ecology of ecosystems is given. This course is one of two parts of a 2-semester general biology sequence, which is required for students who major in the life sciences. Prerequisite: An ACT Math score above 18 or Biol 110.
