This course places students in an experiential learning environment which provides participants the opportunity to 'experience' their learning, rather than simply being told what they are to learn. Students participate in a wide variety of group exercises designed to emphasize various professional leadership competencies and insights. These events, which range from physically challenging to mentally stimulating, are held both inside the classroom and in outdoor settings. The instructor acts as a facilitator, helps guide student processing through after action reviews of the events to facilitate student understanding of leadership principles, group dynamics, and problem solving methods. In addition to military skills, practical 'life skills' are emphasized.
