The purpose of this course and the Math 385 and Math 386 courses is to provide future teachers with foundational knowledge of mathematics they will teach. An inquiry approach is emphasized involving problem solving, problem posing, pattern seeking, reasoning, justification, representations, and communications. Topics in Math 387 include data analysis; probability; the geometry of three-dimensions including shape, spatial visualization, and measurement; geometric concepts of similarity and congruence; coordinate geometry; and transformational geometry.
