Topic: Sports and Event Marketing. This course covers (a) the application of marketing strategies to sporting events and sport businesses, as well as (b) effective events management for marketing and other organizational purposes. Students study the theories and tools needed to develop, stage, promote and price sport and recreational activities. Topics include corporate sponsorships, media relations, press conferences and the use of public relations techniques. Students learn to effectively meet and balance the needs of spectators, sponsors and potential participants. Students also study events marketing and management more broadly, which has applications in a wide variety of marketing and general managerial settings.
