The course relates to the teaching of the mathematics curriculum in the elementary and middle school. The emphasis is on the development of teaching techniques that promote problem solving, reasoning, connections, communication, and concept and algorithmic development. Cooperative groups, manipulatives, technology, and alternative assessment will be explored as tools for meeting the special needs of every child in grades K-8. Required of all preservice elementary teachers. Official admission to and good standing in teacher certification program required.
