Topic: The Economics of Religion, Crime, and Marriage. This course uses the tools of economics, particularly microeconomics, to explain key characteristics of religion, criminal behavior, and marriage. For religion, the course will explore church organization, church architecture, beliefs about the afterlife, doctrine about usury, and religious market structure, among others. For crime, the course will evaluate claims about the death penalty, gun control and the demand for crime.
