The macromolecular concept is introduced and polymerization mechanisms are discussed. The chemistry and physical properties of representative polymeric materials are presented. Topics include the determination and distribution of molecular weights, polymer morphology, mechanical properties of polymers, relaxation phenomena in polymers, and methods of polymer characterization.
