Credit 3 hours. Prerequisites: Art 105 or 106 and ENGL 101 or permission of department head. This course is a chronological introduction to the major developments in painting, sculpture and architecture of Italy from the beginning of the fourteenth century to the end of the sixteenth century. Along with the careers and styles of the Renaissance" most brilliant artists, consideration will be given to the political, social, and religious dimensions of the art created. Three hours of lecture a week.
