Credit 3 hours. Prerequisite: Sociology 101 or permission of Department Head. The course is designed to be an introductory exploration of gender and it relation to culture and social institutions. Gender will be examined as a social construct that has emerged historically and is maintained institutionally. Emphasis will be placed on conflict, contradictions and the potential of social transformation.
