Credit 3 hours. Prerequisite: Junior standing or permission of the Department Head. A detailed study of the sectional controversy in America. Three units on the Sectional Crisis (1850-60); the Civil War (1861-65); and Reconstruction (1865-77). Includes in-depth coverage of the role of women and minorities. Lectures, readings, and discussion. Partial credit may be earned for this course (but for no more than one course per term) by attending the Deep Delta Civil War Symposium. Offered every summer term.
