Credit 3 hours. Prerequisites: HD 600, HD 601, CED 603, and CED 605. This course will provide an overview of crisis models and provide students with the knowledge and skills to assess the severity of a crisis and implement appropriate interventions. Students will learn to differentiate between situational and developmental crises, and specific-types of crises and high-risk clients will be discussed (e.g. substance abuse, grief and loss, violence and abuse, trauma and disasters, health-related crises.) Lecture, discussion guest speakers, and experiential activities will be utilized.
