CSD 510 - Beginning Clinical Practicum in Communication Disorders

Credit 1-6 hours. Prerequisites: Twenty-five observation hours for graduate students without a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and CSD 201, 205, 212, 213, 309, 327, 328, and 500 or permission of Department Head for students seeking licensure and/or certification as speech-language pathologists. Designed for graduate students performing at a beginning level of clinical competency. Students are assigned clients under the direct supervision of an SLU staff supervisor. In addition to therapeutic skills, students are expected to acquire more advanced skills in the diagnostic process and the writing of various types of professional reports. Students will attend all clinic staffings as required. Three to six hours practicum per week. May be repeated for credit.
