Credit 3 hours. Prerequisite: CHEM 621. This course will provide a rigorous treatment of conceptual frameworks in chemistry while modeling appropriate technologies and teaching methodologies. Three major themes will guide the course; the process of science, the relationship between molecular structure and physical/chemical properties; and the relationship between the macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic representations of matter. Topics covered include equilibrium, acids and bases, oxidation-reduction, thermodynamics, and kinetics.
