Credit 3 hours. Prerequisites: Chemistry 251, 254, and 266. This course provides a detailed examination of instrument components and design, methods of signal enhancement, methods of calibration, and spectral interpretation. Topics include advanced spectroscopy (AAS, FT-IR, UV-visible, and NMR), modern separations (GC, HPLC, ion chromatography and capillary electrophoresis), electroanalysis (voltammetry, amperomatry, coulometry, and chemically and enzyme modified electrodes), and mass spectrometry.
