Credit 3 hours. Prerequisite: Chemistry 265. A study of the compounds of carbon, including nomenclature, properties, structure, stereochemistry, transformations, synthesis and reactions of organic compounds; principles of organic reaction mechanisms; and the importance of organic chemistry in real world applications. This course is the second half of a two semester sequence and concentrates on the chemistry of alcohols, ethers, aromatics, ketones, aldehydes, amines, and carboxylic acids and their derivatives. A course designed for students in biological sciences, chemistry and pre-professional curricula.
