Credit 3 hours. Prerequisite: Microbiology 205 or permission of the Department Head. A study of the role of microorganisms in the flow of materials and energy through global ecosystems, and in transformation of organic and inorganic materials. The role of microorganisms in the major biogeochemical cycles, carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus will be covered. Three hours of lecture per week.
