An introduction to the basic concepts including: interpolation functions, element stiffness and load matrices, assembly of element matrices into global matrices, and solution techniques. Several one and two dimensional elements are studied and used to solve problems in solid mechanics, soils, and fluid mechanics using the variational method and Galerkin's method.
