Gateway course to the Master of Science in financial analysis. Examines the financial concepts and problem-solving skills required to evaluate whether managerial decisions add value to the firm. Students will develop an understanding of the financial implications of business decisions and a framework with which to evaluate their decisions. An integral part of this approach requires understanding how the different functional areas of a business interrelate and the supporting role that finance provides. Topics considered include cash flow analysis, risk determination, valuation, working capital management, and financing. Graduate credit cannot be earned for both Fin 561 and 551.
