Examines the major world trouble spots in light of long-standing political-geographical rivalries, including ethnic group rivalries, economic disparities, and conflicting historical claims. Particular emphasis will be placed on political organization of territory, nationalism, boundary conflicts, colonialism, and, where relevant, metropolitan political fragmentation.
