This course will provide an understanding of the origins, practice and literature of world theatre from prehistoric rituals through the 18th Century. Emphasis is placed on how dramatic literature and theatrical performances styles develop out of and react against prior artistic movements to reflect the political, social, economic, and cultural trends in each era.
