An analysis of social welfare as an institution and social work as a profession, with emphasis placed upon their outgrowth from social problems and unmet basic human needs within society. Structured observation will provide an opportunity for students to explore a diversity of agency settings and to distinguish various social work tasks, roles, and levels of intervention. Prerequisite: Completion of 30 semester hours.
