Description:

This course concentrates on the apogee of painting, sculpture, and architecture in Italy. Between c. 1300-1550, artists trace a visual arc between the rediscovery of nature by Giotto to the creation of works synonymous with "high culture" such as the Mona Lisa and the Sistene Ceiling. This course will address issues of style and iconography, as well as the effect of patronage and gender on the visual arts.
