Prerequisite: Students must meet the criteria under either (a) or (b) as follows: (a) 19 or above on the ACT Reading Test or 44 or above on the ASSET Reading Test; (b) Completion of READ 0033 Advanced Reading Techniques with a grade of "C" or higher. Survey course which asks students to examine the fundamentals and functions of the United States Government and to discuss and debate basic public policy issues. Students gain a better understanding and perspective of the government, the obligations of citizens and their relationship to the government of the United States. A student whose placement score requires READ 0013 or READ 0033 is strongly advised against enrollment in this reading intensive course, prior to completion of READ 0013 College Reading Skills and READ 0033 Advanced Reading Techniques.
