Prerequisite: Students must meet the criteria under either (a) or (b) as follows: (a) 19 or above on the ACT Reading Test or 44 or above on the ASSET Reading Test; (b) Completion of READ 0033 Advanced Reading Techniques with a grade of "C" or higher. Social, economic, and political developments from Reconstruction to the present. This course focuses on the industrial development, World War I and II, progressive reforms, the anxiety of the 1920's, the Great Depression, the Cold War, the 1960's, the struggle for civil rights for African-Americans and women, the Vietnam War, and the changing role of the president from 1970 to the present.
