This course offers a broad overview of the descriptive study of linguistics, including language acquisition, language structure, social and cultural aspects of language, and historical development of language. The course explores these and other linguistic issues with particular emphasis on their implications for teachers. Prerequisite: ENGL 111 or permission of instructor.
