This course focuses on the development of speech and language in the young child, from birth through school age. Students will gain an understanding of how children progress through language development at differing rates, as well as an understanding of the effects of diversity, including cultural and linguistic diversity. The course includes assessment of child language, methods of facilitating language development, practical curriculum activities, and criteria for literature selection. Prerequisite: PSY 222 (C or better)
