This course will provide the student with an introduction to industrial safety, OSHA, various OSHA standards, workplace inspections, citations and penalties. Employee and employer responsibilities, right-to-know laws and safety awareness programs are examined. Safety motivation and knowledge, creating a healthy work environment and health hazards and issues are also studied. Areas such as the role of the supervisor, employee assistance programs, management of stress helps students understand the role employer's play in creating a healthy workforce. In addition, the contributions of safety committees and other governmental agencies responsible for safety are examined.
