This course serves as a general introduction to the field of Database Management. The course emphasizes database management fundamentals. It is organized around the database development life cycle and the subject matter of the course is presented in life cycle order. Conceptual design, logical design, physical design and the final implementation are covered in detail. The relational database model is studied in depth and other models such as the network and object models are introduced. Oracle is used as the implementation database management system.
