This course introduces key developments and movements in the history of world cinema, from its origins in the late nineteenth century to the present. Students examine style, content, and historical contexts of narrative films from Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. This course develops skills in critical viewing, describing, and analyzing film as art form and as cultural communication.
