This course has been designed to introduce the socio-cultural dimensions of sport. Sport is sometimes trivialized as a playground off to the side of the real world. This course will describe to the student that sport is a microcosm of society as well as a site for changing society. Finally, the course will show that sport has a profound influence on the social life of large numbers of people of all ages.
