4 credits Prerequisite: ASL 105 or program approval This course is part of one of a three part sequence. This course will focus on the role and responsibilities of the interpreter, certification criteria/ evaluations, skills and competencies needed, introduction into the variety of interpreting settings, history and terminology used in the field, and modes of communication used by the Deaf community. Upon completion, students will be able to understand the role and responsibility needed to become a professional sign language interpreter as well as build receptive and expressive skills in American Sign Language.
