3 credits, 5 hours (1-4-0) This course introduces the theory and practice of plane surveying and presents the basics associated with measuring angles and distances. Topics include care and use of instruments, taping, differential and profile leveling, transit, stadia, and transit-tape surveys. Upon completion, students will be able to apply the theory and practice of plane surveying to determine boundaries, areas, and volumes of land measurements. CET 112 INTERMEDIATE SURVEYING: 3 credits, 4 hours (2-2-0) Prerequisite: CET 111 or instructor approval This course is a continuation of CET 111 with an emphasis on route surveying. Topics include design and layout of horizontal and vertical curves, super elevation, and site distances. Upon completion, students will be able to design and lay out roadways.
