3 credits, 5 hours (2-0-3) Prerequisite: Instructor approval This course provides instruction in fundamental concepts and theories for the safe operation of pneumatic components and systems used with industrial production equipment. Topics include the physical concepts, theories, laws and the application of these concepts to perform work. Also included are air flow characteristics, actuators, valves, accumulators, symbols and circuitry, filters, servicing safety, and preventive maintenance. Upon course completion, students will be able to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial pneumatic systems.
