3 credits, 7 hours (1-0-6) This course covers the art and science of the lost wax casting process. Included are centrifugal and vacuum casting, wax model set-up, investing, the burn-out cycle, and professionally finished castings, as well as the safe use of the tools, equipment, and materials needed to alloy cast jewelry. Upon completion, students will be able to centrifugal and vacuum cast and to refinish castings to a fine finish.
