Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of all program prerequisites and Level I, II, and III. Nursing Concepts IV focuses on the nurse's role in the care of individuals who experience difficulty with oxygenation, fluid and electrolytes, mobility, sensation, cognition, regulation and metabolism, trauma and care coordination. Learning experiences are designed to foster increased depth and understanding of altered homeostasis and its effect on the client and their family. Emphasis is placed on experiences to enhance utilization of the nursing process and develop critical thinking techniques as they apply to the more seriously ill client. Prototypes of health problems will be used to represent the selected concepts. 6 lecture hours; 12 lab hours per week.
